Reports to: Director of Partnerships & Development
Location: Full-time remote with regular travel

impact, we are seeking a strategic, relationship-driven Major Gifts Officer with a passion for policy, civil
discourse and a proven track record in high-level fundraising to fuel our growth.
Role Summary
The Major Gifts Officer will play a pivotal role in securing transformative five, six and seven figure gifts that
accelerate The Policy Circle’s mission. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role for a self-starter who thrives on
building authentic relationships with influential donors and translating mission and policy interest into
philanthropic commitment. This role is a combination of moving current donors toward major gifts and actively
prospecting for new donors. This role reports to the Director of Partnerships & Development.
The successful candidate will be deeply aligned with and committed to The Policy Circle’s mission and core

landscape connected to our mission, including donors and networks aligned with our core principles.

Role & Responsibilities
Major Donor Strategy & Portfolio Management
● Manage a portfolio of major donors and high-capacity prospects
● Develop and execute individualized moves strategies for the portfolio
● Build strong, trust-based relationships that deepen engagement and long-term investment
● Lead donor meetings, calls, and ongoing communications to advance relationships
● Align donor interests with organizational priorities and funding opportunities
Prospecting & Pipeline Development
● Identify, research, and qualify new major gift prospects
● Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective donors
● Cultivate and steward new relationships to successfully bring high-capacity donors into the portfolio
● Partner with leadership, board members, and key stakeholders to expand the donor network
● Design strategies to move prospects through the full donor lifecycle – from introduction to major gift
Fundraising Execution & Revenue Growth
● Meet or exceed annual major gift revenue goals
● Develop compelling proposals, cases for support, and solicitation strategies
● Contribute to strategy and execution, including growth initiatives and special projects
● Translate organizational priorities into fundable opportunities
Stewardship & Donor Experience
● Ensure consistent, high-quality stewardship that reflects impact and outcomes
● Partner with Programs and Communications teams to deliver meaningful updates and Stories of Impact
● Create tailored engagement opportunities that strengthen donor connection to mission
Systems, Data & Moves Management
● Track all donor interactions and moves management activity in Salesforce CRM
● Maintain accurate donor records, pipeline tracking, and reporting
● Use data and insights to inform strategy, prioritize activity, and improve performance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
● Partner closely with the Director of Partnerships & Development to align strategy and goals
● Collaborate across teams to ensure strong alignment between fundraising, programs, and
communications
● Support leadership and board engagement in donor strategy and solicitations
Professional Requirements
● Experience & Background
○ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
○ 5-7+ years of fundraising experience, with a focus on major gifts
○ Proven track record of securing five, six and seven-figure gifts
○ Experience moving donors through the full major gift cycle from prospect to donor
○ Experience building strategy for a portfolio
○ Experience managing a donor portfolio and meeting revenue targets

○ Strategic thinker with experience in donor research, pipeline development, and metrics-driven
planning
○ Outstanding written and verbal communication; adept at translating policy impact and stories of
impact into compelling donor narratives
○ Willingness to travel (40-50%) for donor meetings, networking opportunities, events, and Policy
Circle events.
● Technical Skills/Tools
○ Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
○ Experience using CRM Systems (Salesforce strongly preferred)
○ Experience with project management and collaboration tools (e.g. Basecamp or similar)
○ Comfort working with dashboards, reports and tracking tools
○ Ability to earn and adopt new technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to improve effectiveness
and execution.

Working at The Policy Circle
This is a remote position with regular travel. Compensation will be commensurate with experience. Generous
benefits package including but not limited to: Medical, vision, and dental coverage starting within the first 30
