Gendered Intelligence is structured into four departments:

  • Professional and Educational Services (PES) Working with professionals and organisations to develop trans inclusivity in workplaces and services, primarily through training and consultancy • Youth and Communities Services (YCS) Services and projects that work with young trans people and trans adults – and those who support them – to support well-being and enable our community to thrive • Public Engagement (PEng) Work with public policy and decision makers, the media, researchers and academics as well as the general public and major institutions to raise awareness; • Operations (OPS)

Job Overview
● Hours: 35 hours per week/1FTE

● Contract type: Permanent

● Salary: £37,562.48, plus £3,250 London Weighting where applicable Scale Points 25-29, Band F. It is standard practice for appointments to be made at the start of the band.

● Location: Remote, with the option of hybrid working from our London office

Use of the term “trans”

  3. The Team The Public Engagement Team is a small but mighty team overseeing a wide remit at Gendered Intelligence. We are responsible for policy, research, media and fundraising work, and we are maintain GI’s front door via digital communications, community outreach, cross-sector networking, and media engagement. The team is managed by the Head of Public Engagement, and includes the Communications Co-ordinator, Fundraising Manager, and Research Co-ordinator.
  4. The Role This role will be line managed by the Fundraising Manager and work closely with the Communications Co-ordinator. As our brand has grown and our fundraising and communications needs have evolved a need has emerged to expand and develop our ability to interact with our audiences and to support our digital communications work. This role will help maintain supporter relationships, sustain a fast-moving content plan, and support the Public Engagement team to take our fundraising and communications to the next level. Main Duties and Responsibilities The range of responsibilities and duties of this role will include the following, although priorities may change in line with the development of the role and other duties may be allocated from time to time. You will be working closely and collaboratively with the Fundraising Manager and Communications Coordinator, who will have oversight of the following areas and will induct you into GI’s systems and procedures. However, following a successful settling-in period, you will be able to support on delivering the following tasks:
  • Provide administrative and communications support across the public engagement team on a range of projects and tasks to boost Gendered Intelligence’s income and public engagement.
  • Respond to supporter queries via phone, email, post and on social media platforms on a wide range of topics
  • Maintaining supporter relationships, including thanking donors, and day to day stewardship of Gendered Intelligence supporters, donors and fundraisers.
  • Keep CRM systems and communication platforms updated, including data imports and exports
  • Support in planning and delivery of Public Engagement events and activities
  • Support in the creation and scheduling of content, including social media posts and mass emails to supporters
    General Requirement
  • To bring GI’s “3P’s” to your work – Professionalism, Positivity and Passion, and to take a non-judgmental approach to everyone you work with external and internal to GI.
  • To reflect the wider values of the organisation such as being open to an ethos of collaboration and working together, to recognise the positive aspects of trans lives and to stand up for trans people, especially young trans people.
  • To take care of the health and safety of yourself and others who may be affected by your actions at work, always; to operate within the Company’s Health and Safety policy; and to participate in health and safety processes (for example risk assessment) when necessary.
  • To follow all relevant GI policies, ensuring these are carried out in practice in relation to the job; in particular to behave in accordance with Gendered Intelligence’s Codes of Conduct and Equal Opportunities Policy as well as our Safeguarding Policy and Procedures.
    All staff may be asked to undertake other duties and responsibilities as appropriate, as determined by the CEO, on an occasional basis.

  • ESSENTIAL
    Experience

    Experience of working as part of a dynamic team to deliver communications, campaigning, marketing or fundraising goals.
    Experience of using a database, CRM (we currently use Beacon) or other data administration tools
    Experience providing customer or supporter care by email and social media
    Skills and Abilities
    Confidence working with digital technology, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite tools, and the ability to pick up other software packages quickly
    Ability to prioritise and manage own workload across a range of different demands, balancing both planned and reactive work
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to, with relevant training, draft written communications for different audience
    Able and willing to work occasional unsocial hours and outside of normal office hours as required
    Knowledge
    Familiarity with a range of social media platforms, with an awareness of current trends
    Prior knowledge and interest in digital marketing or campaigning, including the basics of how email and social media are used in charity communications
    DESIRABLE
    Experience using a charity CRM system
    Experience of creating graphic or video content for use on digital platforms, including social media
    Experience working with email marketing and/or social media in an organisational/business environment
    Experience of working on digital fundraising and/or communications campaigns
    Knowledge or experience of one or more of these fundraising areas: Individual Giving, Community and Events, Corporate, High Value or Trusts and Grants.
    Working knowledge of GDPR and data protection principles
    Experience of managing difficult conversations with supporters or members of the public.
