Programme Coordinator

Key Details

Reports to: Programme Manager

Target start: February 2027

Employment Type: Full – Time

Location: Remote

Purpose: Support delivery of our in-depth programmes, taking on the execution work that makes them run well.

Deadline: 22nd November, 2026

Who we are

Animal Advocacy Africa (AAA) works to prevent the spread of industrial animal agriculture in Africa and to address the harms it already causes – by finding and developing the people and organisations who can make the biggest difference for animals on the continent. For more information on our work, please browse our website. We especially recommend reading the yearly reviews on our Blog and skimming the Programmes section.

The people who thrive at AAA care deeply about farmed animals and want to help them as effectively as possible. In practice, that means following the evidence even when it points somewhere unexpected, and being willing to change your mind, including about our own programmes.

If you meet most of the essential criteria and the work excites you, please apply. We’d rather see your application than have you rule yourself out. If you’re not sure which role fits best, you can flag interest in more than one.

All roles are full time and remote. Start dates staggered from December 2026 through March 2027. We are open to hiring from Africa, Europe and most other regions, as long as you can work at least 3 hours each weekday that overlap with roughly 8am to 5pm in European and African time zones (about UTC+0 to UTC+3).

Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of our in-depth programmes: cohort-based fellowships and careers programmes for advocates in priority countries.
  • Support participant selection for our programmes.
  • Support programme logistics, including in-person components, venues, travel and scheduling.
  • Support programme outreach activities.
  • Prepare and maintain programme materials, templates and documentation.
  • Support participants and alumni throughout and after programmes.
  • Support data collection for research and monitoring and evaluation.

Essential

  • Strong organisational and coordination skills, with attention to detail.
  • Reliable and proactive, comfortable owning tasks without close supervision in a small team.
  • Clear written communication with a wide range of people.
  • Interest in effective animal advocacy and in the African context.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting programmes, events or cohorts.
  • Experience working remotely across time zones.
  • Comfort with data tools and AI-supported workflows.
  • Arabic (strong plus), French, or another regionally relevant language.

Compensation

Salaries are defined based on responsibilities, location, and personal circumstances. For the sake of cost-effectiveness and mission alignment, we typically do not meet industry-equivalent salaries. For the same reasons, some of our leadership team sacrifices parts of their salary. Staff are encouraged to do so but not expected.
